Being Innovative and enabling developers to innovate are driving forces for Iron.io. It’s what we do. Having said that, it’s very nice when we receive outside recognition. When the recognition is part of a well thought out analysis from IDC, it is fantastic. I’m happy to report that, Iron.io was named an IDC Innovator in the just released IDC Innovators: Platform as a Service, 2016 report (doc #US41166516, May 2016).

The report spotlights emerging vendors with revenue under $50 million that offer an innovative new technology, a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue and/or an interesting new business model. Iron.io is among five companies named in the eight-page report by Larry Carvalho, IDC research manager in the Platform as a Service (PaaS) area.

“Iron.io offers a serverless platform for enterprises confronting the challenges of digital transformation,” Carvalho says. “Strengths of Iron.io included its microservices / microcontainer capabilities and asynchronous job-based processing, combined with the fact that it supports public, private and multitenant cloud environments.”

According to a press release from IDC, “Iron.io has the future of computing in their crosshairs: hybrid cloud environments, microservices, containers enabling scale, continuous delivery and API-driven workload management.”

It’s the third time in recent weeks that Iron.io has won high-profile recognition. Earlier this month, the company was named a “Cool Vendor” in the Cool Vendors in Platform as a Service, 2016 report by Gartner. And in March, we were included in a Forbes article titled “Five Serverless Computing Frameworks to Watch Out For.”

As you can tell, we’ve had lots of excitement recently. For those of us on the Iron.io team, some of our most innovative, most exciting developments are what’s in the works now. How’s that for a teaser?

But wait, there’s more: wondering what IDC Innovators is? Here’s how IDC describes it:

IDC Innovators reports present a set of vendors chosen by an IDC analyst within a specific market that offer an innovative new technology, a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue, and/or an interesting new business model. It is not an exhaustive evaluation of all companies in a segment or a comparative ranking of the companies. IDC INNOVATOR and IDC INNOVATORS are trademarks of International Data Group, Inc.”
